Arkham City is an open world action video game that incorporates elements of stealth and predator tactics. All of the gadgets previously obtained in the first game are present at the start of Arkham City. The gadget arsenal includes:

• Cryptographic Sequencer with signal tracking
• Line launcher with a perpendicular launch feature
• Remote control Batarang with built-in brake and boost
• Grappling gun utilizable during gliding

Four additional gadgets are introduced:

• Smoke pellets for confusion
• Remote Electrical Charge, a sniper-like taser gun
• Ice grenades for freezing enemies
• Rope for tying up enemies

The game incorporates more puzzle elements and enhanced use of Batman’s “Detective Mode” to perform forensic activities such as tracking the origin of a sniper round.
